ABSTRACT

The aim of this research is to know chicken leukocyte illustration which were infected by Eimeria tenella after giving water extract of sambiloto (Andrographis paniculata Nees) gradually dose. Thirty broilers were divided into 6 treatment groups. They were W1, W2, W3 (treatment group which were infected and given water extract of sambiloto low, medium, and high dose), KO (treatment group which were infected and given drug), KP (treatment group which were only infected by E. tenella), and KN (chicken group which were not given any treatment). Blood slides were taken from 0 day (before infection), 2nd, 7th, 10th, 14th, and 21st day after infection on 5 chickens in all groups. Results indicate that average percentage heterophil sambiloto groups tend to show lower value compared with KP and KO on 7th and 10th day after infection. Average percentage eosinophil, basophil, and monocyte sambiloto groups tend to show lower value compared with KP and KO on 14th and 21st after infection. Average percentage lymphocyte sambiloto groups tend to show higher value compared with KP and KO on 7th, 10th, and 14th day after infection.

Key words: blood slide, broiler, differential leukocyte, Eimeria tenella, inflammation, water extract of sambiloto.
